A Collaboration Rooted in Purpose
The Origin of the Pinhoti Series Goat Rope
We’re excited to announce the return of a truly special collaboration—the Pinhoti Series Goat Rope, brought to life by Lost Hat Co. in partnership with Dave Owens and the Pinhoti Project. Originally launched as a limited-edition collection last year, this distinctive hat quickly became a customer favorite, thanks to its authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design. It sold out fast and made waves among outdoor enthusiasts, turkey hunters, and hat lovers alike.
Due to overwhelming demand and the continued success of the series, we’ve brought it back for a second year. But, true to the spirit of the Pinhoti Project, we’ve kept it exclusive with only 2,500 hats are made annually, with just a few hundred left on the site at the time of this post. This isn’t just a hat; it’s a symbol of shared values, rooted in tradition, conservation, and the storytelling that defines the Pinhoti Project.
A Look at This Year’s Drop
This year’s Goat Rope edition builds on the foundation of the original, offering subtle yet elevated design changes that set it apart. It still features the flat bill and iconic matte-finish Mossy Oak Greenleaf fabric, but now sports a brown rope accent in place of the green rope found on the standard series. This small change makes a big visual impact, nodding to the earthy, grounded tones of the spring woods.
One of the most talked-about upgrades is the back closure. Instead of a standard rear snap, this year’s model boasts a leather strap embossed with the Pinhoti name. The strap is fastened with a brass Lost Hat Co. buckle, blending rustic charm with durable functionality. It’s these thoughtful, rugged details that make this collaboration feel so intentional.
More Than Just a Hat
Pinhoti Series: A Symbol of Wild Places and Worn Paths
The Pinhoti Series Goat Rope isn’t just a piece of gear—it’s an emblem of a lifestyle. Whether you’re a seasoned woodsman or a weekend wanderer, this hat was designed to resonate with those who live deliberately and tread lightly. It channels the ethos of Dave Owens’ Pinhoti Project, which celebrates public lands, DIY hunting, and preserving the heritage of turkey hunting for generations to come.
By wearing the Pinhoti Goat Rope, you’re not only supporting that mission, but you’re also aligning yourself with a community that values grit, stewardship, and self-reliance. The hat tells a story without saying a word. Each scuff, sweat mark, or faded edge becomes a badge of the adventures it’s seen.
Why Limited Editions Matter
Releasing only 2,500 hats per year keeps the Pinhoti Series special. It means you're not just buying another mass-produced item—you’re getting a collectible piece of a larger movement. The limited nature of this drop helps us maintain high standards in both construction and design, ensuring every detail is intentional and every hat is made to last.
About the Pinhoti Project
The Pinhoti Project is the brainchild of lifelong turkey hunter Dave Owens, created to preserve and promote the tradition of wild turkey hunting through honest storytelling, educational content, and public land advocacy. Known for its raw, self-filmed hunts and minimalist approach, the project captures the true essence of the pursuit—highlighting the challenges, the triumphs, and the quiet moments in between.
At its core, the Pinhoti Project is about more than just hunting. It’s about honoring the heritage of the wild turkey, advocating for conservation, and encouraging a deep respect for the woods. Whether you follow along for the strategy, the scenery, or the spirit, the Pinhoti Project speaks to anyone who believes the journey is just as important as the harvest.
